KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY CLAIMS ANOTHER RAB RACING RACE CAR; MARKS OK
CONCORD, NC (7-15-07) If Friday the 13th was going to be bad luck for someone at Kentucky Speedway, it was that of Justin Marks, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge. After a brake issue in qualifying that caused him to start in the rear of the field, Marks didn't get to complete one lap before becoming a victim of circumstance when he was collected in an incident that happened in front of him.
"Justin (Allgaier) and I had a good run on the outside on the first lap and were able to make up a lot of spots," Justin Marks said. "I couldn't really see what was happening in front of me out of four because the sun was in my eyes so I just fixed myself on the 16's bumper. By the time I saw him run over the guy in front of him as everyone checked up for the wreck, there was nowhere to go at that point."
Marks made contact with the rear of Allgaier's machine before taking a hard right into the turn four wall. Once out of the car, Marks was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released for minor injuries.
"It was a big hit but nothing really I haven't felt before. I just hate it for the team because no matter what we do we just can't seem to get a break. The trip to the hospital was just precautionary. I feel bad for the people that support this team, Construct Corps and Crocs and all the people that work so hard in the shop. They deserve to be in victory lane and I'm going to continue to do my best to get them there."
This accident marks the third race car Kentucky Speedway has claimed in 2007. Marks was in scary accident in May when his car caught fire after hitting the turn one wall and then again at a test session in early July when he had a right front blow, sending him hard into the turn four wall.
"Kentucky has been a rough place for this team. I do like the track a lot though. It's a lot of fun to drive and races really well. It's fast and wide and a unique challenge. It may be surprising, but I am looking more and more forward to returning there ever time we've had a wreck because a win there would just be that much more rewarding."
The ARCA RE/MAX Series will take two weeks off before heading to Pocono Raceway for the Pennsylvania 200. Qualifying is set to begin on Friday, August 3rd at 1:45 PM ET with the green flag scheduled to wave on Saturday, August 4th at 1:00 PM ET. The Pennsylvania 200 will be aired live on SPEED beginning at 1:00PM ET.
