Ryan Lawler Ready for ARCA Debut at Kentucky Speedway
Young Racer Has Conquered Super Late Models, Now Set for First Superspeedway Star

MOORESVILLE, NC (July 6, 2007) -- Ryan Lawler has come a long way since the spring of 2006. In the little more than a year since his first-ever Super Late Model start, the 20-year-old driver has become the hottest young racer in short track racing. He won races in two of the most competitive short track series in the country, the PASS South Super Late Models and ASA Late Models. He came within a handful of points of winning the PASS South championship last year.

Already this year, Lawler has two wins and currently leads the points battle in PASS South and has been in contention for wins in ASA once again. With such an impressive start to his stock car racing career, Lawler has proven that he is ready to make the jump into speedway racing.

Lawler's quick success has caught the eye of some of the biggest names in the sport, including NASCAR NEXTEL Cup driver David Stremme and noted Crew Chief Bobby Blount. After a successful test session at Kentucky Speedway, Lawler has teamed with the RC Consulting team led by Blount and Team Consultant Stremme for his ARCA RE/MAX Series debut at Kentucky in the WLWT Channel 5-150 at Kentucky.

"I'm just really pumped up about making my first ARCA race," said Lawler. "I went and tested in that car and had an absolute blast. We were fourth quickest on the (practice) sheets.

"Starting off, I knew I needed to get seat time in the car. That was the first goal, but I actually got going there pretty quick. Everything happened pretty fast and things went pretty good. We went about 35 laps and then did a mock run. Everything went pretty good and everyone was pretty happy."

Even though it will be Lawler's first race in the ARCA ranks, he will have plenty of knowledgeable experts in his corner helping him along. In his Super Late Model races, Lawler has legendary chassis builder Robert Hamke as his Crew Chief. At Kentucky in his ARCA debut, Lawler will have the advantage of being able to pick the brain of Blount, who has won many races both behind the wheel and as crew chief.

"I'm just really fortunate to get to work with these guys," said Lawler. "Robert (Hamke) has got all the credibility in the sport because he's been around it for so long and won for so long. Now being able to work with Bobby (Blount) is just awesome. I've known him since I first moved down here. We've always gotten along pretty well and I think Robert has said some nice things about me. Bobby and I had some good communication at the racetrack in the test, so I'm looking forward to working with him in Kentucky."

The Super Late Model tracks that Lawler runs at consistently are the short bullrings around the Southeast, where finesse is just as important as power. But Lawler has proven that he can adapt well to the high speeds of speedways as well. Lawler excelled in the NASCAR Elite Division race at the one-mile Phoenix International Speedway last fall and had a strong racecar in the 7/8-mile Iowa Speedway earlier this year.

All of the previous big-track experience helped Lawler get up to speed quickly in the Kentucky test, so the young driver is hoping that all of the preparation will pay off with a strong run in the ARCA event.

"The car was awesome at the test. I've never been somewhere where you can really use all the power like that. We didn't get out there with a big pack of cars because they only let two or three cars out there at the time, but I've gotten a lot of experience in running at speedways like that so it won't be anything new for me. I've run well at Phoenix and Iowa, so I know a little bit about what it's going to be like running in a big pack out there.

"It's a big race for me, making my first ARCA start, but I'm just taking it as just another race at just another racetrack. That's really the only way to look at it. I'm just going to go out there and try to do the best that I can and see what happens."
