Mosleys homecoming includes new sponsor & new website
CONCORD, NC (May 8, 2003) -- Homecomings are usually associated with football games, parties and school dances. Well, Jamie Mosley's homecoming game will be in the form of the "Channel 5-205" ARCA event this Saturday at Kentucky Speedway. He hopes to dance with some of the best racers in the country and have his own party in the garage area after a successful race.
Mosley is more than excited to compete in this particular ARCA race since it will be in front of his home-state fans. He will also debut a new sponsor (Microtel of Florence, KY), a new racecar (a former Johnny Benson Winston Cup machine) and a new website (JamieMosley.com). This event will also mark the first time his Kentucky Law Enforcement "over-the-wall" team will be together in 2003.
"This is just a big weekend for us in all aspects," said London (KY) native Mosley. "We have a new car that we put a lot of work into, several great sponsors who have come on board for the race, a great pit crew that has worked their butts off to get to a very competitive level and a new website that will feature this team and what we're all about.
"We know we can be competitive; we have all the things in place to do that. We ran pretty well here last year in only our second ARCA start, so we are pumped up. It is just about track time and using all the time we can wisely during the weekend. We had a great car earlier this year in Nashville, but had some engine problems. Now that we have that behind us and this new Pontiac, I think we will definitely be a top-10 car."
Mosley is not the only home-state member of his team. In fact, his entire "over the wall" pit crew will be performing in front of their home-state fans as well. Mosley, who serves as a Kentucky State Police Dispatcher during the week, has enlisted several of his law enforcement buddies to work on the car and serve as the "over-the-wall" crew. The team is comprised of Kentucky State Troopers, Deputies and local Kentucky Police Officers.
Several of the crewmembers performed pitstops for the first time at the Nashville race last month after completing their training at a pit stop school in North Carolina. Mosley was missing one member of his crew at that race; jackman Matthew Feltner (KY State Trooper, Dry Ridge Post), will work his first event at Kentucky, making it a truly unique pit crew.
"I was really proud of all the guys after the Nashville race," said Mosley. "Being from the law enforcement field, they are a bunch of hard-working individuals and will stick with something until they get it. Despite all of our on-track problems, we were pulling off pit stops that would be fourth or fifth fastest of anyone in ARCA."
51 Sports will also debut Mosley's new website during the Kentucky race weekend. It will be the all-encompassing online site for news on Jamie Mosley, his season, his crew and sponsors. It will feature all kinds of fun stuff that those in the racing community have come to expect from the 51 Sports crew. Visit www.JamieMosley.com for more information.
Mosley also has a new sponsor for the race. Microtel of Florence (KY) will join the team for the Kentucky event. Microtel Inn & Suites, located at 7490 Woodspoint Drive in Florence, will be supplying rooms to the team as well as offering a special rate to other race teams for the event. Anyone interested in taking advantage of the Microtel deal can call (859) 746-8100. It is located just off I-75 at Exit 181 near the Cincinnati Airport.
The "Channel 5-205" will be the second ARCA race of the 2003 season for Mosley and the second of his career at Kentucky Speedway (he finished 18th last year). Qualifying for the race will be Friday, May 9th, at 6 pm. The 137-lap race is set to begin on Saturday, May 10th, at 8 pm. The race will be seen LIVE on Speed Channel as well as locally on Channel 5.
