BRETT ROWE BATTLES TO ARCA LINCOLN WELDERS TRUCK SERIES WIN AT KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY

SPARTA, KY. -- ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series driver Brett Rowe (No. 27 Front Rowe Racing) of Barboursville, Wva., took the "Bluegrass 100" title today on the paved quarter-mile track at Kentucky Speedway.

Rowe, who lost the 2004 series title to defending series champion Chad Guinn in a tiebreaker, renewed hostilities with his closest rival in a 25-mile, 100-lap battle to open the 2005 series and Kentucky Speedway season.

Guinn led the race from the midway point through Lap 85 when he was caught up in lapped traffic and surrendered the lead to Rowe. Rowe held the lead for the next five laps but ran into lapped traffic troubles of his own. With Rowe progress impeded on Lap 90, Guinn shot his No. 4 Allied Waste-M&M Heating Chevrolet to the inside in Turn 3 and regained the lead.

Rowe tracked down Guinn again and regained the lead on Lap 94 as the No. 18 Partridge Racing Chevrolet of Kyle Partridge spun into the infield to bring out a caution flag. Rowe gained an advantage on the restart three laps later and raced off to his first win of the 2005 season and the sixth of his career. Guinn earned his third top-two finish at Kentucky Speedway in as many starts.

"He (Guinn) kind of snookered me on a few of the earlier restarts, so we tried to hit it where he couldn't hit it," Rowe said of his Lap 97 take off. "We hit is as hard as we could and it ended up working out pretty good."

Inaugural series champion Bill Withers (No. 57 Mannings USA-Hall Electronics Ford), Paul Hahn (No. 7 Hahn's Collision-Fox Auto Parts Chevrolet) and 2001 series champion Robbin Slaughter (No. 75 Stutter Signs Chevrolet) rounded out the top five.

Rowe will hold the series points lead going into the next race on May 27 at Lake Erie Speedway in Northeast, Pa.

"We had a tough battle. Chad is a great competitor and we have a lot of fun racing each other," Rowe said. "It's a good way to start and hopefully we can keep the momentum going the rest of the year."

The ARCA RE/MAX Series "Harley-Davidson Cincinnati 150" takes the 1.5-mile tri-oval at 3:00 p.m.
