KYLE KRISILOFF CAPTURES POLE FOR ARCA RE/MAX SERIES HANTZ GROUP 200

BROOKLYN, Mich. - Rookie Kyle Krisiloff, a Hendrick Motorsports development driver with Bobby Gerhart Racing, won the pole position today for Friday's ARCA RE/MAX Hantz Group 200 at Michigan International Speedway.

Krisiloff piloted the No. 7 Ditech.com Chevrolet to a speed of 187.598 miles per hour to edge another ARCA rookie, Ken Weaver, who will start on the outside of the front row after posting a qualifying speed of 187.524 mph in the 1-800-4-A-Phone Pontiac.

"We came out here and tested a few weeks ago and the car was pretty good then,'' said Krisiloff, who also posted the fastest practice speed yesterday. "We ran a good qualifying lap today. The car was a little loose, but we ran well."

Krisiloff, from Carmel, Ind., is the son of Indy 500 veteran Steve Krisiloff.

"My goal has been to finish on the lead lap, which I haven't done this season," Krisiloff added. "With this qualifying run today, I feel confident we can do that here. I'm just trying to run well every week. It was hot when we tested here a few weeks ago, around 85-90 degrees, which didn't help us as much today because of the cooler temperatures. But the cooler temperatures will give a lot of us out here more confidence."

Frank Kimmel, defending and six-time ARCA RE/MAX Series champion, registered the third fastest qualifying speed, 185.333, followed by Kevin Hamlin at 185.052.

Another rookie, Erin Crocker, competing in only her second ARCA RE/MAX Series race tomorrow, was seventh quickest today with a qualifying speed of 184.781. In her only other ARCA start, she won the pole position at Nashville and finished 12th in the race.

"It was an interesting day," said Crocker, a development driver for Ray Evernham Motorsports. "We had a few good runs and then blew a right front tire and bent up the fender a little bit. We worked really hard, got it back together and got a few laps before the practice was over. The qualifying run was obviously not what we wanted to do today. We wanted to sit on the pole, but qualifying is not the important thing. The race is. We're going for the win. I got the pole last time. Now I need the win."
