Rained out in New Jersey

With Team GLOCK Racing's Dexter Bean and car owner Jeff Spraker in agreement, they hatched a plan to catch fellow ARCA teams unaware to capture the title of the Loud Energy Drink 150 at the New Jersey Motorsports Park. Unfortunately, due to the events of Mother Nature, Team GLOCK walked away with a 14th place finish.

The plan was conceived during practice. The team would stretch the fuel limits of the car and pit only once during the race. With Dexter's quick mastery of the road course and many teams struggling on the new track, the strategy would be a cinch to work. "Road course racing was a blast I had a lot of fun. I learned the track quickly and it showed with an 11th position in both practice sessions," said Dexter.

As conceived, the team took only one lap to qualify seventh and conserved their precious fuel. At the start of the race Dexter fell back a few spots to comfortably race and conserve even more fuel. With one of the five cautions of the day the leaders took their turns pitting. As the green flag waved to resume the race, the GLOCK 37 Chevy was the new leader and continued that way through the half point where he earned the Klotz Half Way Leader Award. Soon the scheduled green flag pit stop was replaced by a caution and Dexter came in for his pit stop of the day.

Yet, Team GLOCK's plan was tested as rain showers that had threatened all day finally made their way over the track. "The race was going just as planned - we even led five laps. Then we had to pit for fuel and restarted 16th only for the rain to fall and end the race 19 laps short and no time for the Team GLOCK Chevy to climb back to the front of the field," said the frustrated 21 year old from Westby, WI.

Indeed as the sky was clearing and teams were readying their equipment for the last laps, the Race Control announced the end to the abbreviated scheduled event which left Team GLOCK with a 14th place finish.

Team owner Jeff Spraker recaps the heartbreaking turn of events at New Jersey, "After a great qualifying lap, we had high expectations for a good run on this road course. Despite his lack of road-racing experience, Dexter did a great job from the minute we unloaded and we were well-positioned when the caution flew for rain to bring home a "Podium-finish" for Team GLOCK. We only wish that the "Decision-makers" would have employed the same strategy that they used in Toledo earlier this year at the New Jersey event. At that time, it started to rain and we were leading - after the half-way mark. They waited over two hours, dried the track and then re-started the race - where we finished third. If they had done the same thing today, we might have won - or certainly been in the top five. It hurts to leave at the end of the day for a "Rain-shortened event" when the sun is shining - we just wish we had the chance to let our strategy play out - it could have been a great day! But, some things are out of our control and this is one of them. We'll load up and go to Talladega and look forward to being a part of GLOCK's Salute to Heroes."

"As a sponsor I had the same question all of the other teams, sponsors and fans had. Why don't they finish the race? The drivers wanted to race, the teams wanted to race and the fans and track ownership wanted to see a green flag conclusion to the inaugural ARCA race at the new track, stated Ed Fitzgerald, GLOCK, Inc.'s Assistant National Sales Manager. "I guess rain ruled the day."

The next stop on the 2008 tour for Team GLOCK will be the ARCA RE/MAX 250 from Talladega Superspeedway.
