On a beautiful day at the Milwaukee Mile, Frank Kimmel showed why it would be extremely premature to think he is not going to fight tooth and nail for his ninth ARCA RE/MAX Series title. Kimmel took the checkered flag in Sunday's Governor's Cup 200 for his 71st career ARCA victory. For a while it looked as though Justin Marks would notch his first career victory until Kimmel passed him with only a handful of laps remaining.

Marc Mitchell grabbed one of his better finishes of the season by bringing his #4 Ergon Dodge home in seventh place. He was the final competitor on the lead lap. While a top-10 finish is usually considered a solid day by any driver, Mitchell and his Cunningham Motorsports team had higher aspirations.

Mitchell posted the second fastest time in Saturday's practice session. He followed that up with an eighth place qualifying effort. All of this had the team poised for a top-five finish. However, when the green flag fell, Mitchell was forced to wheel a car that was not driving the same as the day before.

From the outset, the #4 Ergon Dodge was tight in the middle of the corners with no forward grip coming off. The team did great work on pit road as they did all they could to get the car comfortable for Mitchell. But when he crossed the finish line, Mitchell was still experiencing the same problems that plagued him all day.

"I'm not sure what went on today," said Mitchell. "That was not the same car that I drove in practice and qualifying yesterday. I think the bias-ply tire had a lot to do with it. They can be unpredictable. We usually run on radial tires in the ARCA series, but they haven't developed a short track radial yet. The car was just never down in the track. If you can't find grip off the corner at Milwaukee, it is hard to pass."

"But hey, we still finished seventh. We threw a lot of changes at the car and the pit crew did a great job in keeping me up front. I'll take a top-10 and go to Gateway."
