TWO LAPS SHY OF A WIN FOR MARKS AT MILWAUKEE; TAKES HOME CAREER BEST 2ND
CONCORD, NC (8-28-07) Justin Marks, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, led 59 of the 200 laps at the Milwaukee Mile this past Sunday before eight-time ARCA RE/MAX Series Champion, Frank Kimmel, took over the lead on the final two laps, leaving Marks with a career best second place finish.
"The car was very good all race long," Justin Marks said. "We were on a really good pit strategy and with the new tires not being the advantage we all thought they would be, we were able to stretch the tire run a long way and capitalize on track position. We just ran a long time and unfortunately lost the handle a bit right at the end with the low fuel load. Frank raced me very clean and I was very happy about that. We put on a good show for all the fans and that's really what matters."
This second place finish also comes on the one year anniversary of the joining of Justin Marks and RAB Racing.
"I have matured immensely as a driver over the past year and this team has become a more intelligent, professional and experienced unit," Marks continued. "I think this finish was a good way to give a little back for the opportunity I have been given with this team. Everyone at Construct Corps and Crocs has been so supportive through the difficult times, and it's just meaningful to me to be able to reward that support and dedication with a good run."
Up next for RAB Racing is the Gateway ARCA 150 at Gateway International Speedway in St. Louis, MO. The Gateway ARCA 150 is set to begin on Friday, August 31st at 8:00 PM CT and airing live on SPEED at 9:00 PM ET.
"Gateway is as close to a "home track" as I get in this series being born in St. Louis. It's neat because it's so unique. I'm just really pleased with where this team is right now. We are bringing well-prepared equipment to the track, and hopefully beaten our streak of bad luck. The biggest thing is just keeping everyone focused and trying to win every time we go out. Maybe Gateway is where we can pull it off. All I know is that a tough 2nd place like we had on Sunday just fuels my desire to go out and do a better job next week."
