Dexter Bean Rockets To Ninth In Nashville
"Team Nets First Top-10 Finish Of The Season"

LEBANON, Tennessee (Tuesday, April 3, 2007) - - Dexter Bean started the Nashville ARCA 150 from the 24th position on Saturday and he never looked back. The Wisconsin native maneuvered his No. 6 Five Star Telecom Chevrolet Monte Carlo to a ninth place finish in one of the shortest ARCA events of the year.

The teams endured one practice session in cold and blistery Lebanon, Tennessee, Friday with Bean posting the 19th fastest time overall (30.048 seconds, 159.704 MPH). "The car is good," said Bean. "This is the same car that we raced with at Pocono Raceway and Chicagoland Speedway which gave us great results last season, so it's no surprise that the car is handling good this weekend."

In qualifying, heavy flurries hovered around the 1.333-mile speed plant and with a late qualifying draw and dropping temperatures; Bean was looking for the most in time trials. His lap of 30.163 seconds at 159.096 MPH lined him up 24th on the starting grid.

"We slowed down a little from practice, but so did a lot of others," sounded Bean. "Our car is still good, we just have to use patience in the race, and I think we'll bring home a good finish."

Saturday yielded more brisk weather with the air temperature reaching 32-35 degrees Fahrenheit leading up to race time. The third event of the season got off to a late start after a lengthy NASCAR Busch Series qualifying session, but that didn't seem to faze the avid late model competitor, he was ready to go.

At the start, the field quickly went to caution on lap two with Mario Gosselin lost control of his No. 12 Chevrolet in turn two. Bean had already picked up three positions at that point. Back to green flag conditions, Bean attempted to make a charge through the field but was stopped when the yellow flag waived again when Joey Miller in the No. 32 Country Joe Racing Dodge lost a motor shooting out oil through turns three and four. The cautionlasted nearly 20 laps, before the competition went back to green.

The lengthy caution allowed the drivers to regain focus and it showed on the restart. The impressive field had a good clean green flag run allowing Bean to make ground on the rest of his competition. While utilizing patience and studying his prey, the driver continued to move up the charts and put himself outside the top-15 when a caution waived approaching lap 53 when Gosselin lost it again destroying the rear of his machine.

Bean brought his Five Star Telecom Chevrolet to the attention of his BlackJack Racing when the crew performed an awesome stop bolting on four new Hoosier tires and added Sunoco Racing fuel before sending him back on track.

Returning to racing, the field went under another solid run of green flag racing, nearly 40 laps which saw leader Cale Gale overtake several strong cars. The caution flew a couple laps later putting only nine cars on the lead lap.

Closing in on the finish, Bean was hovering outside the top-10 and vowed to his BlackJack Racing crew that he would put the car in the top-10. Under green flag conditions, Bean took his challengers on one at a time while setting sights on ninth place runner and eight time ARS (ARCA RE/MAX Series) champion Frank Kimmel.

The reigning ARCA champ led Bean down the backstretch on the last lap and into turn three but Bean got a great run coming off of turn four setting up a drag race on the frontstretch with the No. 6 beating the No. 46 to the line by inches, giving Bean a thrilling top-10 performance.

"It was a good day," said a smiling Bean. "We had a good car, the guys did a great job on pit road, and I was really happy with the way everything worked out. We needed this run to pick up the team's morale and I think we accomplished that big time."

With his performance on Saturday, Bean bolted to sixth in ARCA RE/MAX Series points just 35 points from the top-five.

Next up for the ARS is the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 by Federated Auto Parts from Salem Speedway in Salem, Indiana, on Sunday, April 22. BlackJack Racing is the defending pole winner at Salem after Bean scored his first ARCA pole at the historic half-mile track last September.

Leaving Nashville, driver Dexter Bean has 30 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with two-top five finishes and eight top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of fourth at Pocono Raceway (July 2006) and Chicagoland Speedway (September 2006). He owns the 2006 Pork pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best superspeedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 84 laps in three races.
