Billy Tanner & Stott Classic Racing Looking To Capitalize In Nashville

LEBANON, Tennessee (Thursday, August 9, 2007) - - Fresh off a 14th place finish last weekend at Pocono Raceway, Billy Tanner and his Stott Classic Racing (SCR) head to Nashville Superspeedway hoping to excel on the finish and reel in their No. 07 CheapCaribbean.com Chevrolet Monte Carlo home in the top-10.

Last week, after several tough runs recently in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, Tanner and company overcame a spin and fighting from the rear of the field to net their career best finish. With some momentum on their side, the team hopes to pick up the pace even more this Saturday in the TOYOTA ARCA 150.

"We're ready to get back in the swing of things," said Pennsylvania's Billy Tanner. "We had a pretty good run at Pocono. We're not complaining. We had a shot at the top-10, but we couldn't outmaneuver some cars who were experiencing transmission troubles. Luckily, for the first time in a while, we brought the car back with all four fenders and the itch for wanting more this weekend in Nashville."

Despite never having the opportunity to race at the 1.333-mile speed plant, Tanner participated in the open test at Nashville Superspeedway last month. While the results weren't spectacular, Tanner isn't worried.

"We didn't bring the car we are racing this weekend to the test," continued Tanner. "The primary purpose of the test was for me to get my feet wet with Nashville Superspeedway. I can't compare the track to anything I've been on. It's a heck of a place. We're bringing the car we raced with at Pocono last weekend and it's a good piece. We tested with a Pontiac and we're racing a Chevrolet Monte Carlo, so there's one major difference. We know what our Chevrolet will do in race conditions and I hope that will play to our advantage."

Sailing into Nashville, Tanner, 25 is in the seventh of 12 races with SCR (Stott Classic Racing) and sponsor CheapCaribbean.com, as the group is using this season as track time to prepare for a full season run in 2008.

"The team is making a lot of progress and that's good news for everyone," continued Tanner. "I really think we are going to make a difference in the next six races and it will help us prepare for next year. The communication between myself and Corrie only continues to get stronger as time goes on. I am very thankful for that. There are some races coming up that I've had experience on and others that I haven't. I'm hoping we can excel on all of them."

He continued, "This team has some confidence thanks to our exceptional run at Pocono. We had a top-10 car; just unforeseen circumstances presented us from making our goal into a reality. We're gunning for a top-10 finish. We know we need a little luck, but I'm going to drive my butt off and try and give these guys another good run."

Car owner Corrie Stott is feeling good about the team's chances in the 14th ARCA RE/MAX Series race held at Nashville Superspeedway.

"Billy has been able to go out and prove that it doesn't matter if he has the seat time or not. He tries to give 150 percent every time he climbs behind the wheel. We're heading to another track that Billy doesn't have a whole lot of experience on, but he learns quickly and I think he has some confidence from last week's run, which gives him an extra incentive to run well. A top-10 finish will feel like a win for our team this weekend."
