McGilton Looks to Nashville; Ready for Heat and Hopeful that Third Time is a Charm

Lebanon, Tenn. (August 9, 2007) -- Phillip McGilton and his Brewco Motorsports team return to Nashville Superspeedway this weekend for the Toyota 150. This is McGilton's third visit to the 1.33 mile track and he his hoping that the third time is, indeed, a charm. Looking to rebound from a loose-handling car in Kentucky and a late-race accident in Pocono, the former national bull-rider is ready to take the remainder of the ARCA RE/MAX Series season by the horns.

"We have had some unfortunately situations the last two races," said McGilton, "but now it is time to focus and really get in there each week and get the best finish we can. We've been decent here in the past, but not fantastic. I have more track experience now and am ready to use what I've learned to and wheel this car to the front. I know we can walk out of here with a great finish and maybe even take home that Gibson guitar."

Running his own team in 2006, McGilton started this race last year in the 15th position in only his fourth career start. Engine failure ended the team's day early and with a disappointing 34th-place finish. Returning with Brewco Motorsports for the 2007 season, McGilton posted a top-20 finish in April's race at the superspeedway.

"It's a very smooth but demanding track," McGilton commented when asked about his thoughts on the Lebanon, Tennessee race track. "I'm really looking forward to being back there."

This weekend there is an additional challenge for the drivers of the ARCA RE/MAX Series. Temperatures are expected to climb into the high-90's, with track temperatures well at 100 plus. It will be a true test of endurance in record heat.

"Knowing that the weather this weekend is going to be extremely hot," stated McGilton, "I've been out the last couple of weeks testing my shifter cart to condition myself for running the high speeds in the extreme conditions. I definitely feel more comfortable in the car on Saturdays."

McGilton remains in 2nd place in the race for ARCA Rookie of the Year behind Michael McDowell. McGilton enters the weekend in the 6th position in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship points with 6510 points, 190 points behind 5th place Justin Allgaier.

ARCA RE/MAX Series practice runs from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 10, 2007. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying begins that evening at 6:30 p.m. The Toyota 150 begins at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 11th and will be broadcast LIVE on SPEED. All times are EASTERN.
