Jamie Mosley has eyes set on Music City Magic.
State Police Dispatcher hopes Law Enforcement Team can put cuffs on competition.
CONCORD, NC (April 9, 2003) -- Jamie Mosley is an avid music listener, plays the guitar himself and even sings in his free time. So how appropriate is it that "Music City USA" is the location for his first ARCA RE/MAX Series race of the 2003 season. Mosley hopes to be singing sweet songs after the 150-mile race at Nashville Superspeedway on Friday night.
Mosley is looking for a solid run from his Kentucky Motorsports team, a team which coincidently is made up primarily of law enforcement officials from Kentucky. Hopes for a top-10 run are at the top of the list, but giving the team time to "gel" and get all of the bugs worked out before next month's home-state race in Kentucky is far more important.
"We are really pumped to head to Nashville, and I think we have a pretty good shot to have one of the top cars there," said Mosley. "But we are really looking at this race to get the team working well together because we have been off since last year at Lowe's (Motor Speedway). Many of our guys are new this year and we just want to get prepared so we can come out of the box firing on all cylinders next month at Kentucky in front of our home crowd."
Mosley, who serves as a Kentucky State Police Dispatcher during the week, has enlisted several of his law enforcement buddies to work on the car and serve as the over-the-wall crew. The team is comprised of Kentucky State Troopers, Deputies and local Kentucky Police Officers. Since several of the guys will be going over the wall for the first time, Mosley recently took the team to a pit stop school in North Carolina.
"We went down there with everyone to the "5-Off 5-On" school in Mooresville to get everyone working together as a team. Many of the guys had no idea what to except, but when the day was done, I was really proud of all of them. Being from the law enforcement field, they are a bunch of hard-working individuals and will stick with something until they get it. By the end of the day, we were pulling off pit stops that would be fourth or fifth fastest of anyone in ARCA."
The PFG Lester 150 will be the first career start of Mosley's brief ARCA career at Nashville and the first of two this season. He will return on August 9th for the season's second event in the "Music City." But before the team can look forward to that race, the team has to prove themselves against a very stout ARCA field this time around.
"We feel that we have a pretty good car that can compete with the best of them; we are just limited right now by my seat time. If we have a good practice session, I think we can be a top-10 car easily, but there are some quality individuals in the field this week. The likes of Jeff Fultz, Wayne Anderson, Kyle Busch and several others, joined in with the ARCA regulars, will make this race a lot of fun. It is great to race against people like that; it makes the races so much better."
Mosley and the entire Kentucky Motorsports team are still looking for sponsorship help for their 2003 season. Any interested parties can call 606-877-1896 for more information.
The PFG Lester 150 can be seen live on Speed Channel at 9 p.m. (Eastern) on Friday night.
