DuQuoin Special For ARCA Car Owner; Pearson Ready For Dirt Debut

DuQuoin, Illinois - - While Monday's Southern Illinois 100 will just be another race for some of the ARCA competitors, it will be a day that Brad Hill won't soon forget. After years of spending life as a crew member, Hill will walk through the gates on Monday as a car owner. But that's not the only reason that Hill will have a reason to smile, he'll have a familiar name and close friend behind the wheel, Eddie Pearson.

Pearson, the son of the man named "driver of the century" David Pearson will pilot the No. 17 Miller Ford Taurus for the 20th event on the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. David Pearson will be in attendance on Sunday and Monday, not only rooting on his son, but spending time with the fans that have made him so popular.

"I've never been to DuQuoin, but I am looking forward to it," said the 40-year old Eddie Pearson. "I've talked with Ken Schrader in great lengths about this race and I think we'll be all right."

Eddie Pearson will break away from his normal duties as crew member in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series (No. 46 Dennis Setzer) and NASCAR Busch Series (No. 36 T.J. Bell) to make his first ARCA start of the season.

"I'm really excited about DuQuoin," said the car owner Brad Hill who resides just twelve miles from the dirt track. "I've wanted to do something like this for the longest time. Now with a great driver like Eddie Pearson, and a great sponsor like Miller, we should have a strong chance of running upfront."

Joining the team for the Labor Day event will be an all-volunteer crew. No worries for Hill though, they all have experience working together with drivers Dale Fischlein and Eric Jones in the NASCAR Busch Series. Many of the crew are also full time with the team of Justin Dierks in the NASCAR Elite division series."I have great faith in my crew," explained Hill. "The crew has all worked together before and are a tight-knit group of guys, I know they are going to give their best."

The Southern Illinois 100 is the 20th of 23 events on the 2005 ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule. The teams will endure another one-day show with practice, qualifying and racing all set for one day. Practice will being shortly after 9:00am, with Pork pole qualifying set for 11:00am with the race set to take center action shortly after 1:00pm. Unfortunately, the race won't be telecasted live, but information on the results, race schedule and entry list please visit www.arcaracing.com
