Bean and #37 Team GLOCK Want their First Win at Pocono
After the much anticipated third place finish at Toledo Speedway, Dexter Bean and Team GLOCK will head to Long Pond, PA this week. They will compete in the 8th race of the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule on Saturday, June 7th at Pocono Raceway.
Dexter finished third in the Hantz Group 200 by Federated Car Care on Sunday, May 18th at the short .5 mile Toledo track. It rained most of the day and the field was red flagged due to the wet conditions on lap 109. Bean was leading the field at the time of the red flag and Team GLOCK was hungry for a victory. After the two hour intermission, Dexter and Matt Carter fought for the lead. Dexter crossed the finish line behind Carter and Patrick Sheltra. It was a bit of a disappointment, but it was a step in the right direction for Team GLOCK and Spraker Racing. The third place finish moved Dexter from the 15th position to #11 in the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series driver point standings.
With momentum from Toledo built up for the Pocono ARCA 200 this weekend, Team GLOCK Racing couldn't be more fired up for Saturday's race and Dexter is anxious to get back on the track in the #37 GLOCK Chevrolet. Dexter has had a strong history at Pocono Speedway. He finished second there last year and fourth in 2006 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race. "I'm extremely excited to be heading back to Pocono. It's my favorite stop on the ARCA schedule. It will be the first time Team GLOCK will travel to Pocono and everyone expects big things. I think this will be a big weekend for Spraker Racing and Team GLOCK," said Dexter.
Dexter's driving style fits with the unique shape of the track. It has three very different corners and requires shifting down on the long main straightaway. Dexter is comfortable with the layout of the track which has been indicative of his past finishes on the 2.5 mile raceway.
Team GLOCK will be carrying chassis 030 which is the same car they carried to Kentucky. At the Kentucky race, the car suffered some front end damage and had some fender and front left tire rub. However, Team GLOCK has installed a new Monte Carlo body and will be using Tesar Engineering Horsepower for the Pocono 80 lap/200 mile race. Jeff Spraker of Spraker Racing Enterprises and Team GLOCK has been working around the clock preparing for the weekend at Long Pond. "Since our third place finish at Toledo, we have been working seven days a week preparing for this next stretch. We need to continue our climb to the top and Pocono is a good place to do so. We have a strong history of great performances and this is a great time for us to be going there to grab a win one spot better than Dexter's second place finish there a year ago," said Spraker.
The race schedule begins on Friday, June 6th with practice running from 10:15 11:55am. SIM Factory Pole Qualifying begins at 1:45p.m. and the start of the Pocono ARCA 200 is on Saturday, June 7th at 1:00p.m. There will be a same day delay broadcast on the SPEED Channel at 10p.m. Eastern Standard Time. Live timing and scoring of practice, qualifying and the race will be available on arcaracing.com.
