RICHARDSON QUALIFIES 11TH IN BACKUP CAR AT NASHVILLE

Lebanon, TN (March 25, 2005) -- Robert Richardson started his first day of competition at the Nashville Superspeedway with a rocky start during the only practice session for the ARCA RE/MAX Series PFG Lester 150. Richardson made contact with the turn four wall damaging the right front suspension of his No. 33 Victory Lane Girl.com Ford. After lengthy repairs to the car, the Bob Schacht Motorsports team was able to make the necessary adjustments and get the car back out for additional practice time. But with only minutes remaining in practice Richardson would once again make contact with the turn four wall, but with more intensity forcing the primary No. 33 to the hauler. With no back up car the team was forced to scramble within the ARCA RE/MAX garage to find another race car. Mark Gibson Racing allowed the team to utilize their backup car to allow Richardson to attempt to qualify for the event.

Once again the Bob Schacht Motorsports team was forced to scramble to adjust the new car to fit Richardson and make it through technical inspection prior to taking its place on the line for his qualifying attempt. In a race car that he had not yet sat in or even made a lap around the race track in, Richardson was able to muster a truly incredible lap placing him 11th on the starting grid for tomorrow's event earning a time of 30.536 at 157.152mph.

"I am just amazed that I was able to turn a lap that good in a race car that I have never been in before on a track as complicated as Nashville," said Richardson. "I felt so bad after I wrecked there at the end of practice, I was convinced that I was not even going to get the chance to attempt to qualify for the race. But we were able to work a deal with Mark Gibson and Bob (Schacht) was able to make that car fast and told me just to give it everything I had to try to get in the show. I was so disgusted with myself that I had told my dad that I would either get this car in the show or we were going to be loading up another one. But the car was just awesome and I can't wait to start this race tomorrow."

Richardson did have a bit of a sentimental attachment to the race car that came from Mark Gibson, with Dale Earnhardt being someone that Richardson has looked up to since and young boy as well as being his reason for getting behind the wheel of a race car, he felt somewhat at ease knowing that he was strapping into a Chevrolet with a Dale Earnhardt Incorporated (DEI) motor under the hood.

This will be Richardson's first career start at the 1.33-mile concrete oval of Nashville Superspeedway and third career start in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, but a career-best start as well. The PFG Lester 150 will take the green flag at 1:00pm ET and will be televised live on SPEED Channel.
