Kimmel Ready to Round out Season with Rockingham Win
Team has High Expectations for a Trip to Victory Lane
MOORESVILLE, N.C. (October 6, 2010) - As the 2010 season comes to a close, Kimmel and his Ansell/Menards team race into Rockingham Speedway with one goal in mind - win a race before the season is over. The Ansell/Menards team has knocked on the door to victory lane several times this season, but this weekend, they look to close that door and the season by adding their names as victors at the infamous rock.
"Our expectations are pretty high at Rockingham," said Kimmel. "We ran really well here in the fall race last year. I think the open practice day on Thursday will be very beneficial to us, because we have never tested at Rockingham. I am looking forward to going there and testing. Hopefully, we will come up with a good setup and try to win a race this year before the season is up."
Kimmel has only been to Rockingham on three occasions, but his results don't show how good he is at the one-mile oval. While he struggled in his first two trips to The Rock, the Ansell/Menards Ford Fusion was very fast last time the ARCA Racing Series competed at the high-banked track. Kimmel ran in the top-three and lead 26 laps before getting involved in an accident that relegated him to a 12th-place finish.
Known as a "driver's track," Rockingham Speedway is the perfect place to wrap up the 2010 season, and there is no better driver than Kimmel to find his way around the one-mile oval.
"Rockingham is a track that tears up tires, but it also has multiple grooves you can run. If you are not running well, you can search and find a line that works better. It makes for a fun race for the competitors."
"Kimmel's Top-10"
As the 2010 season wraps up, several teams and drivers look ahead to the off season. It's a time to spend with family, around the house and relaxing after several weeks on the road. Kimmel doesn't use the off season to slow down or relax; his head is always in racing. He proves this in this week's top-10: "Kimmel's top-10 favorite things to do in the off season."
