Rockingham, N.C. (Oct. 8, 2010)- Kevin Swindell earned his first career ARCA Racing Series Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell Friday afternoon at Rockingham Speedway.
Swindell, the 21-year-old driver piloting the No. 6 Eddie Sharp Racing Toyota, laid down a lap of 24.763 seconds (145.378 mph), good enough to land on top of the 41-car field at Rockingham Speedway.
"I feel like we've got a really good car, and the guys have worked really hard back at the shop and this weekend," Swindell said. "We didn't test much yesterday. I think we ran 30 laps yesterday, and brought up the 25-lap tires from the 81 to ran some laps. We were able to put down a pretty good lap in practice and then back it up in qualifying. I'm thrilled to be on the pole, and I have to thank my ESR crew for all of their hard work today."
The driver swept the day, grabbing the top practice speed. The No. 6 impressed the competition with a fast time of 24.605 seconds (146.312 mph). He topped Chris Buesher and ESR teammate Craig Goess, Justin Marks and Steve Arpin, to round out the top-five.
