TRANSMISSION TROUBLES CAN'T SLOW FOSTER'S UPWARD MOVEMENT IN ARCA POINTS

Madison, IL (July 28, 2006) -- Ryan Foster did not have nearly as much fun Friday night in his first trip to the Gateway International Raceway as he would have liked. The 18-year old had gotten the hang of shifting last weekend at the Pocono Raceway and Friday night his shifting abilities were put to the test as by the end of the race he was left with only fourth gear in his Frank Kimmel Ford.

While Foster was forced to relinquish positions on restarts, he was able to make his way into the top-ten after falling back to 21st at one point in the race. With his 11th place finish Foster has made his way into the third position in ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship points.

"When I lost third gear I knew it was going to be a long night especially with all those restarts at the end of the race," said Foster. "But by the time we made it to the overtime portion of the race I only had fourth gear and just had to give up positions on the restarts before I could really get going. But I am really excited about moving up to the third position in points and it is almost unbelievable considering that I didn't even get to run at Daytona."

Foster qualified for the Shop 'n Save 150 in the 14th position after getting only two hours to learn his way around the very tricky Gateway International Raceway. Foster continued to run right around the same position he had qualified in while his team worked hard to loosed his car up in the corners with track bar and wedge adjustments on the pit stops. By lap 90 Foster had made his way into the tenth position and worked hard to stay out of trouble during four attempts to finish the event under green-white-checker conditions in order to bring his car home in the 11th position.

"This was a tough race track to get a handle on," said Foster. "The corners in one and two versus three and four are so completely different that is makes getting it right all the way around pretty hard. But Tony (Heavin) did a great job with adjustments all night even though there really wasn't anything we could do about the transmission. The pit crew gave me good track position with every stop and we were still able to gain a position in points. Overall it was a tough night, but a good night for the entire team."

Following Friday night's event Foster has moved into the third position in ARCA RE/MAX Series points standings and is now 375 points away from the second position currently held by Bobby Gerhart. The ARCA RE/MAX Series will have a well-deserved weekend off before heading to Nashville Superspeedway on August 12 for their next event.
