Sweet Salem Memories Continue For Bean; Finishes Second
"Wisconsin Native Moves To Fourth In Points"

SALEM, Indiana (Tuesday, April 27, 2007) - - "Oh what a feeling." Those four words were some of Dexter Bean's first thoughts climbing out of his No. 6 Five Star Telecom Chevrolet Monte Carlo Sunday afternoon after notching a runner-up position at Salem Speedway.

Bean, started the 200-lap event from the outside pole and hovered in the top-two for the first 56 laps before bolting past pole sitter and challenger Michael McDowell to take the lead on lap 57 and holding the top spot for 30 markers.

The Westby, Wisconsin native brought his No. 6 BlackJack Racing prepared machine down pit road on lap 86 for four tires and fuel. The crew performed solidly, but Bean lost a couple positions and lined up sixth on the restart. With some of his competitors ahead electing not to pit, Bean knew he had to maintain patience working his way back to the top. The sophomore ARCA driver knew he had a car capable of winning.

On the restart, a chain reaction wreck involved the No. 41 of Josh Clemons immediately throwing the field back to caution. Unable to pick up any positions because of the quick yellow, Bean radioed to his crew that the car was feeling good and he was ready to get at it.

Back to racing, the young-gun muscled his way into the top-five and sat fourth for much of the second half of the event. Little did Bean's challengers know he was setting them up.

Bean's No. 6 Chevrolet was strongest on the restarts. The driver was able to maneuver his automobile any where on the track, which was bad news for the rest of his competition. In the final two restarts, Bean was able to overtake NASCAR Nextel Cup Series veteran Ken Schrader and pole sitter Michael McDowell and challenged eventual winner Brian Keselowski but the driver of the No. 29 Dodge was a little better on the long-runs out dueling Bean forcing him to grasp a second place finish.

"Man, oh man, this is awesome," said a jubilant Bean after the race. "This is great and what we needed. Our right front is a little banged up, but other than that, our car looks in perfect condition. My BlackJack Racing guys are the best bunch in the garage. We wrecked this car at Lakeland and they worked their butts off to get it back together and look at the results we had. I can't describe what I am feeling."

He continued, "Congratulations to Brian Keselowski. He used pit strategy to his advantage and it worked. I want to thank him for racing me clean. We're points racing and this run really helps in that department. I'm still speechless, this is just a great day!"

Indeed, with his personal-best finish on Sunday, Bean jumped two positions in the ARCA RE/MAX Series driver points standings from sixth to fourth sitting 30 points behind third place Phillip McGilton, 45 markers from second-place Frank Kimmel and 95 credits behind series leader Justin Allgaier.

"We're having a great start to our season, this is our second top-ten finish in a row and it's a good feeling. We're excited about Kansas, but I can't wait to come back to Salem in September!"

Leaving Salem, the part-time NASCAR Busch Series (NBS) driver has 31 ARCA RE/MAX Series starts to his credit with three-top fives finishes and nine top-10 efforts. He holds a career best finish of second at Salem Speedway (April 2007). He owns the 2006 Pork pole award at Salem Speedway (September) while hoisting a career-best superspeedway time trials effort of fourth at Pocono Raceway (June 2006). Bean also has controlled the ARCA field for 114 laps in four races.

BlackJack Racing is still seeking additional primary and associate sponsors for the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series season. For sponsorship inquiries, please contact Robert Weiss at rweiss9@wi.rr.com or 414.763.9231.

Next up for the ARCA RE/MAX Series is the trip out West to Kansas Speedway for the running of the Kansas Lottery $150 this Friday, April 27 with live coverage on the SPEED channel beginning at 5:00pm Eastern Time.
