Craig Goess and the No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Eddie Sharp Racing team continue to charge forward in the ARCA Racing Series championship hunt. Coming off a second-place finish at Toledo Speedway last weekend, the team is hungry for wins in the remaining three races of the season. The No. 81 team heads to Salem Speedway Saturday, September 18 for the second race of the season at the high-banked southern Indiana short track.
Earlier This Season at Salem: In an exciting race at the .555-mile Salem Speedway in April 2010, Goess battled to the end for a second-place finish. Goess, who had a great car and a determined crew, maneuvered his damaged car around the short-track. After getting pinched into the wall, the No. 81 sustained minor damage to the right front fender. In the last laps, Goess battled to the finish line with Patrick Sheltra, Justin Marks and eventual winner Steve Arpin.
In the Points: Goess moved up to the second position in the ARCA Racing Series championship chase behind leader Patrick Sheltra. Goess only trails Sheltra by five points. Tom Hessert is in the third position 15 points behind the leader, and Frank Kimmel is in the fourth position, 140 points back.
Meet Craig Goess: Goess will participate in the ARCA Racing Series autograph session Saturday. Fans have the opportunity to meet Goess and the rest of the ARCA Racing Series drivers Saturday from 4:45 - 5:15 p.m. on the track. For more information, go to www.ARCARacing.com.
Goess on running at Salem Speedway: "I really enjoy the short track racing at Salem Speedway. The last race at Salem in the spring, we finished second. In order for us to win this weekend, we are just going to need Lady Luck on our side and a fast race car. Salem is a fun track, and it requires a lot of focus. It's not like a superspeedway where you have a long straightaway to collect yourself. I'm looking forward to this weekend at Salem, and I'm really proud of the No. 81 Greenville Toyota of N.C. Eddie Sharp Racing team for everything we have done this season."
