Tina Gordon comeback race.
Tina Gordon will make her return to racing in Talladega on October 5, 2002 in the ARCA/REMAX Series Food World 300. This will be Gordon's first race since being injury in Charlotte in May. She will drive the #66 Sticks n Stuff Ford for Midway Phoenix Racing. Associate sponsors include another Alabama company, Racing USA of Birmingham, 3M Ultrathon insect repellant, and MESCO Metal Buildings.
After the Food World 300, Tina will hold a special event for her fans, sponsors and the media at The Last Straw in Jacksonville, Al., from 7 p.m. until 1 a.m.
The event will include a special appearance by rockin' country artist, Lee Bogan, a Portland, Tenn., singer/songwriter who has written a song about Tina called "Tina's Got That Drive." He will perform the song live for the first time at this event after debuting it on the radio the day before. "Where the Rubber Hits the Road," another race-themed song makes up the second half of a newly released CD that will be available for sale at the event. Lee had a lot of success in the early 1990s penning such hits as "Honky Tonk Attitude," "Runnin Wide Open," and "Tearing it Up" (for NASCAR) with country artist Joe Diffie.
In addition to a set by Lee Bogan, local duo "Tracey and Alan" will also perform throughout the evening.
There will also be a raffle of autographed memorabilia including a signed #83 Kerry Earnhardt Winston Cup diecast donated by Racing USA and items signed by Tina. Proceeds from the raffle will benefit Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB).
Tina will be on hand to meet the public and sign autographs from 7-10 p.m., and Lee Bogan will be on hand from 7-1 a.m.
