Kimmel Looks for 10th Win at Toledo, Schrader Enters

TOLEDO, OH (4-28-06)--Frank Kimmel has rewritten the record books during the course of his ARCA RE/MAX Series career, winning an unprecedented seven national championships, becoming the series all-time superspeedway lap leader and ranking second on the all-time winner's list with 64 career victories.

Nine of those victories have come at Toledo Speedway, a feat that Kimmel hopes to repeat on Sunday, May 21 when the Hantz Group 200 presented by Federated Car Care rolls off at the .5-mile oval.

In fact, Kimmel has become a familiar face in Toledo's victory lane celebration. Since 1994, only three drivers have beaten him to the finish line at Toledo Speedway: Bobby Bowsher in September of 1994, the late Blaise Alexander in June of 1999, and Ken Schrader in June of 1997, May of 2004, and May of 2005.

Schrader and Kimmel are the only former Toledo ARCA RE/MAX Series race winners expected to enter the May 21st event.

Kimmel's last Toledo victory came in September in a race that typified a short track thriller, complete with flared tempers, close racing and crumbled sheet metal.

"It was a really exciting race," said Kimmel from victory lane last year. "A lot of things were happening toward the end there with some of the young kids getting over zealous I guess..."

Despite heated pressure from some rookies, Kimmel held off David Ragan by about two feet to win the hard-fought, action-packed Hantz Group 200.

And, race fans eager for another dose of the heated action need only buy a ticket to the May 21 Hantz Group 200. Where preliminary entry lists include names such as Kimmel, Schrader, four-time Daytona winner Bobby Gerhart, Andy Belmont, Damon Lusk, TJ Bell, Todd Bowsher, Billy Venturini, Brad Smith, Blake Bjorklund, Darrell Basham, Bob Aiello, Norm Benning and Brandon Knupp.
