James Winslow fastest in Sepang practice
Ho-Pin Tung a close second in Asian Le Mans Series.

Sepang International Circuit officially welcomed Asian Le Mans Series onto the track for the first day of Free Practice of the 2014 3 Hours of Sepang. Teams navigated their way around the 5.5 km circuit, and all drivers benefited from the valuable track time ahead of Sunday’s race.
Free Practice 1, OAK RACING TEAM TOTAL followed up their three wins with a very strong start at 3 Hours of Sepang finishing top of LM P2 with a fastest lap-time of 1:58.667 set by Ho-Pin Tung in their #1 Morgan-Judd. Eurasia Motorsport was chasing after OAK RACING TEAM TOTAL with their #27 LM P2 ORECA NISSAN and recorded a fastest lap-time of 2:00.404 set by James Winslow. Due to an engine problem Team Avelon Formula were unable to take part in Free Practice 1 which let Craft-Bamboo Racing lead CN in their #77 Ligier JS 53 EVO drove by Jonathan Venter with a fastest lap time of 2:05.260, however their oil pipe broke and they couldn’t finish the session. Team AAI #92 BMW Z4 led the GT Category with the fastest lap time of 2:06.158 set by Marco Seefried, due to the tire problem, #92 pulled out after 19 laps.
Free Practice 2 took place in the early afternoon. James Winslow, driving for Eurasia Motorsport #27 clocked a fastest lap time of 1:59.978 to lead LM P2. 1.431 seconds behind was #1 OAK RACING TEAM TOTAL with a fastest lap time of 2:01.409 set by Ho-Pin Tung. Team Avelon Formula took the top spot in CN Category and recorded a fastest lap time of 2:09.023 until their car span out after 10 laps, and they were not be able to finish FP2. Craft-Bamboo Racing missed the first 50 mins of the Free Practice 2 due to their oil pipe problem but was able to set a fastest lap time of 2:10.903. In the GT Category Team AAI #90 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT3 led second place Clearwater Racing by 3 seconds with a fastest lap-time of 2:06.648 .
Teams will have another Free Practice before the Qualifying session tomorrow. As all the drivers become more accustomed to the circuit the competition will heat up as all teams look to optimize times in Qualifying.
