Atlantic Season: 1
Best Atlantic Start: 1 (Milwaukee, Laguna Seca)
Best Atlantic Finish: 1 (Laguna Seca, Chicago)
Points Standings: 3
Front Runner: Hunter-Reay has become a fixture up front. He recorded his fourth consecutive top-five finish last weekend, and was the first driver of the season two win multiple victories, when he scored his second win of the season two weeks ago in Chicago. He earned his first Atlantic victory last month at Laguna Seca, when he became the first driver of the season to win from pole position. Hunter-Reay has never finished an Atlantic event outside of the top-five.
Championship Contender: Hunter-Reay's fourth consecutive top-five finish last weekend in Toronto made a big impact on the championship points standings, he is currently ranked third, just four points out of second place and 14 points out of the championship lead.
Did You Know: Hunter-Reay is a 9X National Karting Champion? He won four World Karting Association National Points Championships and three WKA Grand National Championships. He is also a 2X North American Karting Champion.
Team Member Spotlight: This week's team-member spotlight focuses on Data Acquisition Technician, Eric Crowder. Crowder got his start in racing as a mechanic at the Russell Racing School. In 1996, he joined the Pierre Phillips Toyota Atlantic team, where he worked as a mechanic. He joined PPI Motorsports in 1998 as the Data Acquisition Technician, and was a member of the 1999 Toyota Atlantic Championship team with driver Anthony Lazarro. Crowder joined Hylton Motorsports in 2001; the team won the CART Toyota Atlantic championship with driver Hoover Orsi. The fete marked Crowder's second championship in just three years.
Hunter-Reay on Cleveland: "Cleveland is different from any other track we compete on since it is an active airport that they temporarily close. There are few visual clues or sight lines so you have to be totally focused on the technical aspects of the track and really race smart. Hylton won here last year so I am hopeful we will be able to dial in a good set up in the first session and then concentrate on qualifying up front as the starts here are notorious for ending a lot of drivers races in the first corner. We come to Cleveland leading in laps lead, fast times, and track records, but I am now tied for race wins and poles and I would like to move those stats back over to my column if at all possible. Only bad luck deprived us of banking race wins at Long Beach and Milwaukee, instead of donuts, and that is hurting our points tally but we have won two of the last four races, plus two fourth place finishes, and our goal is to improve on that record so we can move up from our current third place standing and challenge for the Championship."
