Coming off his win this past weekend at Road America, Scottish driver Ryan Dalziel in the #28 Sierra Sierra Enterprises car, has been penalized for failure to comply with the Toyota Atlantic Championship series-mandated specifications on shock absorbers.
During the post-race technical inspection on the #28 car, the internal part of the car's shocks were measured and found to not be within the specified tolerance.
Series officials delayed the decision on the penalty until they were able to consult with the manufacturer of the part in question.
Sierra Sierra Enterprises was fined $15,000 for the infraction and the young Scotsman was penalized five points from his season total for the infraction and now sits with 288 points -- 11 points behind the series leader Jon Fogarty in the #96 of Pacific Coast Motorsports/Umbrella Entertainment -- in the chase for the championship going into this weekend's Argent Mortgage Toyota Atlantic Championship of Denver Presented by Yokohama.
