Team Australia's Simon Pagenaud finished second in the second round of the Champ Car Altantic Series in Houston Texas today.
The talented Frenchman drove a smart race from fourth on the grid and only had Andreas Wirth between him and the chequered flag at the end of the race.
Pagenaud's young Australian team mate James Davison again showed he is improving with every start and claimed his first top 10 finish after starting 20th on the grid.
Davison picked his way through the field and was rewarded for his patience as persistence.
WHAT THEY HAD TO SAY--..
SIMON PAGENAUD -- TEAM AUSTRALIA
"I feel great, it was a great race, very tough, and the track is very bumpy," said Pagenaud.
"I wanted to keep my tires fresh for the end of the race because I knew there would be a crash and it happened, so my strategy worked.
"It has been a good weekend and I'm happy with the result."
JAMES DAVISON -- TEAM AUSTRALIA
"I'm really happy, I improved a lot," said Davison.
"I got within a second off the leader's best time. I passed people, I drove a smart race.
"I would have liked to have passed Maia in the Forsythe car. In the second to last lap he made it difficult for me, it was the smart thing to do, just to bring it home and stick to the plan.
"The car felt pretty good in the first two thirds of the race, then after the last re-start, you could really tell the tires were going away. I'm really happy, I've improved a lot and I will build in Mexico."
DERRICK WALKER -- CO-OWNER TEAM AUSTRALIA
"Fantastic, good job, both drivers' kept their cool. It was rough ride out there," said Walker.
"A lot of things were happening and you have to keep paying attention and stay focused. Simon and James did a fantastic job. It was a good end to a fairly tough weekend for the both of them. The team got a good result, a great team effort."
CRAIG GORE -- CO-OWNER TEAM AUSTRALIA
"It was very exciting and good to see the cars have the capacity so early in the season," said Gore.
"I think both drivers did a great job. Two cars in the top 10. James really struggled all weekend and then he dug deep and made it happen in the race.
"Simon is a class act and he's got a lot more to come. He's going to be something very special in the future."
