POINTS LEADER LEE BENTHAM RECORDS SECOND VICTORY OF SEASON AT MID-OHIO

LEXINGTON, Ohio - Lee Bentham recorded his second KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship victory of the season Sunday at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.

Bentham, of Richmond Hill, Ont., was running second to teammate Alex Tagliani after four laps but inherited the lead when Tagliani suffered mechanical problems, dropping him out of the race. Bentham, who leads the championship with four races to go, went on to beat runner-up Buddy Rice, of Phoenix, Ariz., by 9.211 seconds. Matt Sielsky, of Northbrook, Ill., was third.

The victory was the fourth in the last five races for Bentham's Player's-Forsythe team and increased his point total to 121. Tagliani, who started on the pole, is second with 99 points. Memo Gidley is third with 98.

The KOOL/Toyota Atlantic Championship continues next Sunday, Aug. 16, at the Road America course in Elkhart Lake, Wis.
