3-Peat for Hunter-Reay, Earns Maiden Victory from Pole Position

It was a historical day for Ryan Hunter-Reay as he once again dominated the weekend and joined the winners circle from pole position. Hunter-Reay earned a maximum 23 points at Laguna Seca, one for the provisional pole he earned yesterday, one for the pole position he earned today, one for leading the most laps and 20 for his victory. Today was the third consecutive event where Hunter-Reay started from the front row; he earned the provisional pole in Long Beach, and won the pole last weekend at Milwaukee and again this weekend in Monterey. Hunter-Reay took the green flag and never looked back, as he led every lap of the race and took the checkered flag with a 8.062 second margin of victory, he was the first driver of the season to win from the pole position. He started the weekend ranked 19th in the series points standings and will leave sitting in 9th position. Hunter-Reay's teammate, Roger Yasukawa finished third and it was the first time Hylton Motorsports finished with both drivers on the podium. Today's victory was the seventh for the team.

Hunter-Reay on the Race:
"What a fantastic weekend for us. The race was great. I knew I had to go out there and drive a mistake free race so that is what I did. Thanks to Keith (Hylton) and congratulations to him for getting both of his cars on the podium. This is terrific for my sponsors, Medlock Ames Winery & Vineyards, they are headquartered just up the road and I really wanted to win here for them. The car was good; it got a little messy out there toward the end, the race felt like it took two days. It has been a bit frustrating the last couple of races, we have been so strong. Ever since I got my lap back in Long Beach after that first lap wreck, I have been thinking "what if" I knew I had a great car and again in Milwaukee, it's been killing me! It finally happened today and I am so happy. I can't say enough about my team, Kyle (Brannan), Larry (Edscorn), Eric (Crowder) and Vinnie (Baud), and Stumpy (Mark Stump). Those guys believe in me and the prepare an unbelievable car."
