Rounds 3 and 4 of the Toyota Atlantic Championship Series heads to the Great Northwest city of Portland, Oregon. Portland International Raceway is where US RaceTronics and its driver David Martinez hope to carry the momentum that propelled them to a 3rd place finish at Round 2 of the Series at the Parque Fundidora in Monterrey, Mexico.

It was at that race that Martinez, having battled dehydration and a stomach virus all weekend long, still managed an impressive performance piloting the # 7 Roshfrans/Aviacsa/RocaAcero/Multigama/Martiga car. This weekend, US RaceTronics and Martinez are healthy, ready, and focused on winning.

This race weekend is crucial in the Championship chase as it is a double header weekend with a race on both Saturday June 18th and Sunday, June 19th. Martinez, the 23 year old Toyota Atlantic Series Rookie from Monterrey, Mexico is looking to better his performance under what might be tricky conditions as rain is being forecasted for all 3 days.

Team Quick Facts

With the success of US RaceTronics and David Martinez at Monterrey, Roshfrans will once again be sponsoring the team at Portland, along with Aviacsa, RocaAcero, Multigama, and Martiga who are also stepping up to join the team at Portland. Team Engineer Alec Purdy is once again providing his expert guidance this weekend. This race also marks the debut of the US RaceTronics Car Transporter which was recently purchased, and will provide a home on the track for the team.

Shane Seneviratne On having David Martinez racing with the team:

"I'm really happy to have David back racing with the team and looking forward to continuing where we left off from Monterrey. We're looking forward to getting him more comfortable in the car."

On the potential for rain:

"We definitely need to have a contingency plan if it rains, especially with 2 races on the same weekend. You have to be very diversified and on your toes. Portland is a tricky track when it comes to weather. The back session is a little tricky; a good driver can figure out how to get through there. I think the biggest obstacle is to tune to car to changing weather conditions"

David Martinez On having raced at Portland:

"I raced there in 2002, in the Barber Dodge Pro Series, it rained during Practice, and half of the Qualifying session as well, the race however was dry. In the race I came in 2nd so I have some pretty good memories of the track".

On the Team and the "gelling" process:

"You know relationships take time to develop, between team, driver, and engineering. On Monday, at Buttonwillow we did a shakedown and did a couple of laps in the car. I wasn't really pushing and everything felt different in the car. I was more comfortable, it was easier to drive. I feel a lot stronger going into Portland than I did going into Monterrey. I've been hanging out with the team more and it's starting to feel like a family, we have a good chemistry. That's a good thing"
