Hunt Ready For Further Road America Success

The Toyota Atlantic Championship returns to the Road America circuit in Elkhart Lake this weekend, a circuit where Wright Patton Shakespeare supported driver Josh Hunt has previously tasted success.

Last year when the Queensland teenager was competing in the Stars of Tomorrow karting series Hunt stood in victory lane after winning in his American debut at the Elkhart Lake karting circuit located in the centre of the 4.048 mile road circuit.

"From the moment we put the kart on the track we were very fast from the and set the pace all weekend, hopefully this good vibe about Road America will continue this weekend," said Hunt.

Hunt and the Lynx Racing team will partake in a Series mid week test day prior to this weekend's official practice beginning on Friday.

"It is a great opportunity to get to know the track prior to actual practice beginning on Friday, I haven't been able to drive around the full circuit yet so to have a day to test will be a huge benefit to me," said Hunt.

"Road America is a great track, it is fast and flowing and I think the closest American track to the best throughout Europe.

"I remember wishing, when I was racing karts here, that someday I would get to drive with a top team on the big track-- and it's happening for me this weekend with Lynx Racing who has previously won here."

After starting the year with several top ten finishes Hunt has been plagued by bad luck over the past couple of rounds but is confident it can be turned around this weekend.

"Sure we haven't had a great run over the past couple of rounds but we have showed some good glimpses of pace, it is a case of putting it all together at the right time," said Hunt.

"To get to the top you have to keep on fighting, this weekend I am confident that we can be up towards the pointy end of the five and be inside the top five at the end of the weekend, it is a very competitive Championship."

This weekend's round at Road America begins on Friday morning followed by opening qualifying that afternoon. A further practice and qualifying session will be held on Saturday with the 17-lap (or 45-minute) race beginning at 11am on Sunday.

The time at Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin is 15 hours behind Australian Eastern Standard time.

Hunt is the first Australian to compete in the Toyota Atlantic Series since fellow Queenslander David Besnard in 1999 and has received major support from Wright Patton Shakespeare Financial Group, which is owned by Gold Coast businessman Craig Gore and Champ Car World Series Co-Owner and Aussie Kevin Kalkhoven.
