Welcome to round three of the Player’s Challenge for the KOOL/TOYOTA Atlantic Championship - - the eighth race of the 12-race Atlantic championship sanctioned by SCCA Pro Racing. A 15 minute practice session is scheduled today between 8:15 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.. Today’s race is scheduled to begin at 2:05 p.m. Miller Milling Company, which is the primary sponsor for Atlantic rookie driver STEVE KNAPP, is one of the largest U.S. millers of durum wheat for the pasta industry, producing well in excess of one million pounds daily. Miller Milling Co. operates state-of-the-art facilities in Winchester, Virginia; Fresno, California; and a new mill project in Mexico. (Scott Gates)

8:15 a.m. - - Session begins under heavy cloud cover, light breezes, and temperatures in the mid 60s.
8:18 a.m. - - #72 DeSOTO makes contact with the turn 10 wall; #21 COGAN contacts the tire wall in turn eight; brings out a BLACK FLAG; both drivers are out and okay.
8:29 a.m. - - GREEN FLAG
8:33 a.m. - - Contact between #95 SMITH and #26 CUTLER; #95 SMITH suffers nose cone damage and returns to pit lane for repairs.
8:38 a.m. - - Light contact reported between #15 LANG and #26 CUTLER while exiting onto the main straight-away; both cars continue.
8:42 a.m. - - Session ends;
#32 ALEX BARRON, of Vista, Calif., is fastest at 1:03.298 - 85879 mph; #43 JOAO BARBOSA, of Valongo, Portugal, is second fastest at 1:03.320 - 85.879 mph.
