Utah: Condor/Team Holland qualifying two report

Junior Strous 5th, Dominick Muermans 17th

An early start of the day for the Condor Motorsports Team Holland drivers Junior Strous and Dominick Muermans. They leave the hotel at 6.30 am to drive the 30 miles to Miller Motorsports Park to be on time for the second qualifying session at 8.55 am. The road leads through the Utah desert along the shores of the great salt lake. Qualifying times from yesterday were not improved; Junior will start the race in 5th position and Dominick 17th.

The first permanent settlements in the valley date to the arrival of the Latter-day Saints on July 24, 1847. They had traveled beyond the boundaries of the United States seeking an isolated area to practise their mormom religion, away from the hostility they had faced in the East. Upon arrival, President of the Church Brigham Young is recorded as stating, "this is the right place", after seeing the area in a vision.

Local cars dealership owner Larry H. Miller had his own vision. As a moderm motorsports visionair he decided the Tooele valley was the right place for race fans and created the beautiful Miller Motorsports Park.

Junior Strous: "The second qualy was very early with a lot more wind than yesterday. The wind is of great influence on the downforce of the car. We have done some major set up changes on the car. Today the car had more understeer then yesterday but I am looking forward to the race tomorrow as I think the car will work realy well on this long circuit."

Dominick Muermans: "The changes we made in the set up after qualifying yesterday did not do what we thought they would do because there was so much wind. I had a lot less grip and found it difficult to drive the car. During my pitstop I lost some more time as there was a problem with the clutch. This is just not my weekend. But tomorrow we have 30 minutes of warm up and then I will just have a good race."
