Emery undergoes surgery following Aus GT crash
Geoff Emery has successfully undergone surgery on his vertebra following his nasty Australian GT shunt at Barbagallo Raceway last weekend.
The Jamec Pem Audi driver suffered a broken vertebra when he hit the wall head-on on the opening lap of last Sunday’s second Australian GT Championship race.
He has been in Royal Perth Hospital since, and has now successfully undergone surgery to to fuse his L1 and L2 vertebrae.
“He is recovering well, with the doctors having him sitting up, and even standing after fitting a back brace,” read a statement from the Australian GT Championship.
“There's a road to recovery ahead, but Geoff will be home before too long, will make a full recovery, and with time, will be able to race again.
“Geoff thanks the motorsport community for all their good wishes and support. He is also thankful to the highly capable medical team at Royal Perth Hospital.”
