The race started off as a fierce all-Audi battle, pro drivers Kelvin van der Linde and Ash Walsh staging an epic scrap for the lead across the first 10 minutes.
It all started when van der Linde made a dive on polesitter Glen Wood at Turn 2 on the second lap, which allowed Walsh to sneak into the lead. They then went door-to-door for a number of laps, van der Linde consistently trying to run down the inside at Turn 2, before Walsh would do just enough on the run to Turn 3.
The South African eventually got through on the 10-minute mark and built himself a small lead, but it was all in vain in terms of victory. With a short compulsory pitstop time it was Twigg, who ran sixth in the first stint, who emerged with a healthy lead.
Duvashen Padayachee did his best to haul in Twigg after taking over from Walsh, but never seriously looked like he was going to overhaul the leader. In the end, it was a comfortably 2.4s lead for Twigg.
Wood came home third, having jumped the van der Linde/Geoff Emery car during the stops. The #74 Audi finished third, ahead of points leader Liam Talbot (Walkinshaw Porsche) who passed Roger Lago’s Lamborghini on the penultimate lap, and Ash Samadi’s Audi on the final lap.
Lago also got by Samadi for sixth spot, while Scott Taylor (Mercedes), Tony Quinn (McLaren), and Marc Cini (Audi) rounded out the Top 10.
