Edoardo Piscopo is the new leader of the Auto GP standings after the series' second round of 2010 at Imola. The driver from Rome, lined-up by DAMS, has though experienced a mixed weekend. After ending up in 7th in Qualifying due to set-up woes, he reverted his fortunes on Race 1. Thanks to a strong pace and a good pit-stop strategy, he recovered up to second on Saturday. He also took advantage from some of his rival's mistakes, showing an impressive control.

Edoardo Piscopo "I'm really satisfied for Race 1, as I ran thinking to points, and I wanted to avoid mistakes. The race has been tough, high-paced and full of action, but I came to the end unscattered and with no issues, clocking a good sequence of quick laps"

Things ended up the bad way on Race 2. An heavy crash at the start involved six cars, including the one of Piscopo, hit from behind by the car of Grubmuller, who had no control.

"I just had time for some hundreds of meters, when I was hit really hard. It's been a bad crash and it's been good no one got injured seriously. I've heard that Grubmuller is in hospital for checks to one leg, but has no fractures. I really want to wish him an immediate recovery."

With Luca Filippi also out at the start and Pantano stopped by a slow puncture at the end, Piscopo clinched the lead in standings with 20 points, followed by Tambay (16), Filippi and Tappy (13).
