Grosjean ahead of Pantano in Free Practice 2
There couldn't have been a better weekend start for Romain Grosjean. The Frenchman was against the quickest among the whole grid in the second Auto GP Free Practice session in Spa-Francorchamps.
Making the most of improved track conditions, mainly due to cleaner tarmac, Grosjean improved the previous mark by more than 2", stopping the clocks on a 2'03"245. Also the other drivers took some advantage from the cleaner track, but nobody was as fast as the DAMS driver, who managed to dig a big gap between him and his opponents.
The nearest one, Giorgio Pantano, is 1.1" adrift with 2'04"371. Behind him, the fight is much closer, with Fabio Onidi third with just a 0.05 gap and Edoardo Piscopo just 1 tenth far from the SuperNova driver.
Duncan Tappy was fifth fastest ahead of an improving Jan Charouz. The Czech driver shaved more than 2 second from his FP1 laptime, and climbed ahead of Celso Miguez, Carlos Iaconelli and Luca Filippi. Closing the top 10 was Jonny Reid, with 2'06"146.
The session was halted by a red flag with two minutes to go due to Carlos Iaconelli crashing at fagnes. The car was slightly damaged with no problems for the driver.
