DETROIT (April 7, 2000) - In the ongoing extension of its public relations activities, Championship Auto Racing Teams announced today that Steve Secor has joined the open-wheel sanctioning organization as its Television Public Relations Manager and Heather Sullivan has been named Public Relations Assistant.

Secor, who has experience in the television business as a photographer, editor and producer, comes to CART after working the majority of his career at WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich. He also has experience with WBNS-TV and the Ohio News Network, both in Columbus, Ohio.

"Steve has a great understanding of the day-to-day life in the television newroom as well as the general business of television and we really wanted someone who could effectively communicate on all levels with TV sports directors and on-air talent," said Ronald G. Richards, CART's vice president of communications. "Couple that with his knowledge of CART and his enthusiasm for open-wheel racing and we believe we have added a person to our staff who can make a significant difference in building relationships and CART presence with a very important segment of the media."

Most of Secor's time with CART will be spent visiting with television sports media in non-race markets throughout the United States. Approximately half the year will find him on the road, spreading the CART story to TV sports directors and on-air talent.

Secor has covered a variety of television programs on a number of topics throughout his career, including several major sports events. He has a bachelor's degree from Hope (Mich.) College in Communications.

Also joining the CART staff is Heather Sullivan as a public relations assistant. She has previously worked in administrative and office management positions in the real estate and flooring industries. Her duties at CART include organizational and administrative assistance for the PR staff. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
