FOUR OAKS, N.C. (February 26, 2001) -- Screaming Eagle Motorsports and driver Greg Stewart have announced a one-race sponsorship deal with Action Thrift Stores for the tires.com 300 Presented by BFGoodrich Tires at Irwindale Speedway in Irwindale, Calif., on March 9-10. It is the second of 20 races on the 2001 ASA Racing Series schedule.
Action Thrift Stores is a group of merchandise stores owned by Jesse Ingram, a Four Oaks, N.C., native, and a long-time friend and high school classmate of Screaming Eagle Motorsports owner Wade Stewart.
"Two of his Action Thrift Stores are just down the 605 freeway from the state-of-the-art raceway in Bellflower and La Mirada. We are excited about Ingram's being a part of ASA's first visit to California," Wade Stewart said. "Jesse comes back to Four Oaks pretty regularly and always stops by our shop and checks on how things are going. He follows ASA on television and really keeps track of our program."
While in California, Ingram will be providing accommodations and transportation for all the members of the Screaming Eagle Motorsports team.
"Everyone on the team and I are really excited about going out there and representing Action Thrift Stores in a positive way," Greg Stewart said. "This is a full-race sponsorship and then he's taking care of a lot of our expenses while we're out there. This is a great opportunity for us and for Mr. Ingram and Action Thrift Stores."
Stewart is in his fourth season of full-time ASA competition after making one start in 1997. In 62 starts, Stewart has one top-five finish and eight additional top-10 finishes. He has earned one pole position, led 93 laps and garnered $198,395 in prize money. His career-best finish was a runner-up finish at I-70 Speedway in Odessa, Mo., during the 2000 season.
Action Thrift Stores sells a variety of quality used merchandise, featuring clothes for the entire family, household items and furnishings and used car parts. Ingram's Action Thrift Stores has a location in San Diego in addition to the two aforementioned locations.
The tires.com 300 Presented by BFGoodrich Tires is set for Saturday, March 10 at Irwindale Speedway and will be televised live starting at 9 p.m. (Eastern) on TNN. The race will also be seen at 9 p.m. (Pacific) on the West Coast.
