INDIANAPOLIS, Wednesday, April 5, 2000 - People who wish to combine a professional career with a passion for motorsports entertainment now have a direct link to job opportunities at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its affiliated companies via http://www.brickyard.com. The Speedway will also cater to persons interested in 2000 event or summer employment in the Retail Merchandising, Food and Beverage, Maintenance and Safety departments by playing host to a job fair April 8. Job postings for open positions at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation's offices, plus the Indy Racing League and Wabash Valley Broadcasting headquarters are available at brickyard.com beginning today. The headquarters for all three companies are located in the vicinity of the famous 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. "IMSC and our affiliated companies offer a professional, progressive work environment for our employees, and we feel it is appropriate to place information in cyberspace for potential employees as well," said Patricia Kuhn, director of human resources for IMSC. All information will be updated regularly, or as new information is made available. Kuhn was quick to point out, however, that the job postings do not reflect openings on Indy Racing Northern Light Series teams, but only the sanctioning body. "Persons interested in jobs on the individual Indy Racing League teams should contact those teams directly for employment opportunities," said Kuhn. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation Job Fair on Saturday, April 8 takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the lower level of Brickyard Crossing Golf Resort and Inn, 4400 W. 16th St. Applications will be taken for the event and summer retail, food and beverage, maintenance and safety openings, while persons seeking full-time employment should feel free to stop by and submit a resume. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation is responsible for maintaining and promoting the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway and its world-class sporting events, including the Indianapolis 500, Brickyard 400, IROC at Indy, Comfort Classic SENIOR PGA TOUR golf tournament and the inaugural Formula One United States Grand Prix at Indianapolis on Sept. 24. The Indy Racing League is the sanctioning body for the Indy Racing Northern Light Series, which features the Indianapolis 500 and eight additional open-wheel events around the United States in 2000. Wabash Valley Broadcasting, which includes Tel-X Sports and Indy TeleProductions, is the video production arm of IMSC. It is responsible for various video production duties for IMSC and Indy Racing events, and for numerous corporate clients. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Corporation, Indy Racing League and Wabash Valley Broadcasting are equal opportunity employers.
