Motorsport.com Sweeps AOL/EMPA Photography Awards

The Eastern Motorsport Press Association held its annual convention last weekend at the Radisson Hotel Philadelphia Northeast. The convention marked a new era, providing an opportunity for internet media to compete in the inaugural America Online Internet Writers and Photographers contest.

Motorsport.com's Ken Plotkin took top honors in the Portrait and Personality division of the writing contest with his story, "Sam Schmidt Motorsports: Debut of a Seasoned Team." Plotkin won a plaque and a check for $100 for his story published by Motorsport.com on March 27, 2001.

In the Race Report division of the writing contest, David Reininger earned a third place plaque for his "Road America Qualifying Report" published on Motorsport.com on August 18, 2001.

While Motorsport.com is well known for its up to the minute news and race reports, the site hosts photo galleries boasting thousands of photographs archived by racing series and event.

Motorsport.com's photographers truly shined in the America Online Internet Photographers contest winning six of the seven divisions. In the Portrait and Personality division, Motorsport.com's Greg Gage, Tom Chemris and Dave D'Allesandro swept the top three spots respectively.

In addition to the six wins, Gage, Chemris and D'Allesandro combined to take four second places and two third places.

Portrait and Personality 1st place - Greg Gage 2nd place - Tom Chemris 3rd place - Dave D'Allesandro

Action Sequence 1st place - Greg Gage 3rd place - Dave D'Allesandro

Crash Action 1st place - Greg Gage 2nd place - Tom Chemris

Feature 1st place - Greg Gage 2nd place - Dave D'Allesandro

Picture Story 1st place - Dave D'Allesandro 2nd place - Greg Gage

Internet Portfolio 1st place - Dave D'Allesandro
