USAC President/CEO John Capels announced today that William S. "Steve" Farmer of Centerville, Ohio has been retained as Director of Sales & Marketing for USAC's Coors Light Silver Bullet, Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car and WorldCom Midget Car racing series. He will assume his new post April 2. Farmer previously served as National Sales Manager for the American Speed Association national touring stock car series and from 1995-1998 he was the Chief Technical Inspector for that series. "I am extremely proud to have been selected to fill this position with USAC. When I first started in motorsports it was with open-wheel cars and I'm looking forward to being involved with these cars, teams and drivers again. We have a great, dedicated staff already in place at USAC and they have already shown a great deal of support for me. "It's our desire to continue to grow the series as they have since 1956 and continue to provide the level of quality competition that USAC has developed over the years." "We are certainly fortunate to have Steve's services available to us," said Capels. "His expertise will enable us to explore new avenues of exposure for our participants and to enhance our product in the national marketplace. He has a deep understanding of our industry and is anxious to begin his new duties." Farmer, 49, and his wife Joyce have one daughter, Tracy.

The Coors Light Silver Bullet Series continues May 4-5 at Nazareth, Pa. following March openers at Phoenix, Ariz. and Irwindale, Calif. The Stoops Freightliner Sprint Car Series begins this weekend at Rossburg, Ohio and Anderson, Ind., while the WorldCom Midget Car Series resumes Sunday at Anderson, Ind. after opening at Phoenix, Ariz. two weeks ago.
