Freelance Lettering of Indianapolis, Ind. has been named the Official Graphics Supplier for the United States Auto Club. Providing a wide variety of graphics services, Freelance has maintained a high profile in recent years at various USAC functions, including the Annual National Awards Dinner and special presentations involving USAC racing series champions and distinctive recognition awards. "We are excited about expanding our relationship with USAC and its participants," says Freelance owner Lance Gibbs. "We want to provide our customers with "top-of-the-line" quality image promotion, while increasing the exposure for our products and we have some exciting plans for the future with USAC." Located in the shadows of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, about 1-1/2 miles south of the track, Freelance Lettering began operations in 1982 under the guidance of Lance and his wife Brenda. Lance's experience in lettering and painting led to an early association with motorsports and the Team McLaren Formula 1 operation and World Driving Champion James Hunt. During the late-1970s he served as the signwriter and truck driver for the McLaren Indianapolis 500 team and driver Johnny Rutherford. In 1985 the business found its current home, located at the south end of Gasoline Alley on Indianapolis' westside, and in the ensuing years technology changes and challenges have resulted in a 14,000-square-foot facility housing the office and designing staff and vehicle installation bay. Newly-acquired equipment has enabled Freelance to become the first Indiana company to print outdoor durable digital images up to 34" tall in one piece, with complete flexibility on length. "USAC has long relied on the quality products Freelance has provided and we look forward to this new association with them as our Official Graphics Supplier, added USAC Director of Marketing and Sales Steve Farmer.
