RICHMOND, VA (September 4, 2001) - TruckSeries.com, a top Internet website for news and features on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, today announced it will sponsor driver Vince Whitmire when the Georgia driver makes his series debut in the Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway Thursday.

"We just re-launched TruckSeries.com with an improved design and thought sponsoring Vince could help us get the message out," stated Steve Keller, vice president of Keldan Media, the firm that produces TruckSeries.com. "Vince is your average weekly short-track racer who is finally getting a chance to live out his dream of racing in a premiere NASCAR series. TruckSeries.com can relate to that. We started out this season with a goal of being a top Craftsman Truck Series information site on the Internet. Through a lot of dedication and hard work, we've been able to accomplish that. "

Whitmire, a Flowery Branch, GA resident, will drive the No. 61 Team Rensi Chevrolet Silverado in the Richmond event. A veteran of the NASCAR All-Pro and Hooters Cup stock car ranks, Whitmire has spent the last two seasons competing in the Parts Pro Truck Series.

"This just keeps getting better and better," said Whitmire. "First, we were able to secure the help of Team Rensi in putting together a first-class ride and now TruckSeries.com has stepped in to sponsor our efforts. The last couple of weeks have been pretty exciting for us. Hopefully, we'll be able to turn in a solid performance at Richmond and justify all the faith everyone has placed in us."

Whitmire comes to the Craftsman Truck Series after an impressive career in motorcycle, go kart, stock car and truck racing. The 43-year-old driver also spent time as the General Manager of Georgia International (now Peach State Speedway) and later the promoter at Anderson (SC) Motor Speedway. In addition to sponsoring Whitmire, TruckSeries.com has also assisted the efforts of drivers Terry Cook and Tommy Powers this season.

"Vince isn't your typical rookie driver," stated Keller. "He's had a lot of racing experience, both on and off the track. It's great he's finally getting a chance to live out his dream of competing in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. TruckSeries.com is pleased we can be a part of that, just as we were earlier this season when we were able to help out Terry Cook and Tommy Powers."

The Kroger 200 at Richmond International Raceway will take the green flag Thursday, September 6, at 8 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The 19th of 24 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this season will be telecast live on ESPN2 and will be broadcast worldwide on MRN Radio.
