$185,000 Barber Dodge rookie of the year fight down to one point.

Toronto, Canada's street circuit was host to round 7 of the Barber Dodge Pro Series. The battles for the $300,000 and $185,000 career enhancement award for the series champion and rookie of the year respectively has become as close as it gets with the top four drivers in each chase within five points.

The rookie of the year battle is as close as it gets in Barber Dodge Pro Series with the top four rookies in points. Rafael Sperafico was leading the rookie points entering the race.

The race sported the top five rookie point-getters starting 10th through 14th with Akihira Okamoto leading the pack and Davy Cook rounding them out.

Early on in the action, Cook in his CODi machine quickly climbed into the top 10 and finished in the 7th position atop all the rookies.

Halfway through the race, Okamoto retired after an incident in turn 3 while attempting a pass on Christian Szymczak who brought the car in with an engine problem a few laps later. Jon Morley bent his front wing early on and went backwards finishing in the 14th position. Rafael Sperafico broke a toe-link from brushing the exit of one of the walls and finished out of the points.

Rookie Rene Bauer went from 20th to 9th receiving the Conseco Step Up Award for most positions gained. The rookie chase is now down to five points between the top four drivers with Rafael hanging on by one point over Cook.

Tommy Fogarty rounded out the top ten. Fogarty returned to action for the first time this season with a strong performance coming off a serious neck injury sustained in a car accident as a passenger.
