The streets of Vancouver held host to an array of unpredictable racing starting with turn one on the first lap for the Barber Dodge Pro Series. The domino effect reared its ugly head as the third place qualifier, Marc Breurs, was punted and spun out; to be placed as a chicane that wreaked havoc on a number of cars. Though, I am getting ahead of myself.

Heading into the race, the rookie of the year battle was down to one point held by Jon Morley, who qualified 18th, over me, who qualified 9th. Seven points' back was the seventh place qualifier, Rafael Sperafico. It looked like a lead change was sure to happen but both Sperafico and I were involved in the pile up at turn 1, leaving my CODi car sidelined and Sperafico to start from the back when they went green. He climbed all the way back up to 8th and Morley had to settle for 12th.

The two drivers with the best races were Ryan Hunter-Reay and Roger Yasukawa.

Hunter-Reay moved from 14th to 3rd in the race, which was propelled by his eight positions gained on the opening lap. The man with the best race, however, was Roger Yasukawa who started second and took point from the pole sitter, Nicholas Rondet, on the first corner, never to be seriously challenged as he took the win. He picked up where he left off from the last round at Road America. There he finished second after an enormous duel with Rondet. That's where he put on a clinic of race craft as good as I've seen since I had the privilege of the best seat in the house, racing right behind them.

The Championship has been between five drivers this year with the current points leader Nicholas Rondet having been consistent all year, never out of the out of the top ten. The other four drivers have been nipping at his heals these last few rounds in hopes to take the lead but have been unsuccessful. The only one to have beaten him these last two rounds with a first and second place finish is Roger Yasukawa. Yasukawa has emerged and stepped it up to another level as the end of the season nears. Due to another mechanical problem, Ryan Hunter-Reay has now been eliminated from the Championship hunt due to a rare gearbox malfunction in qualifying putting him too far away from the possible victory needed in the race. Rondet has placed himself just outside Yasukawa's reach but not quite separated enough from Sepp Koster with the finale race at Laguna Seca Raceway in October, my home track.

Top 15 Drivers After Round 11 (Points): 1. Rondet 158 2. Koster 135 3. Yasukawa 134 4. Plumb 129 5. Hunter-Reay 114 6. Breuers 81 7. (R) Morley 73 8. (R) R. Sperafico 70 9. (R) Cook 68 10. (R) Okamoto 64 11. Boss 60 12. A. Sperafico 58 13. Senske 56 14. (R) Szymczak 56 15. (R)Wieringa 36
