(Lakeville, Conn.) Mar. 9, 2001 - Sunoco has entered into an agreement to become the Official Race Fuel of the Barber Dodge Pro Series. The terms of the one-year agreement were announced in Philadelphia. Consistent with the premise of identically prepared race cars, all entries in the Pro Series will be running on uniform spec 110 octane Sunoco standard racing gasoline.
The agreement was completed as part of a multi-tiered deal with Pro Series racer Marc Breuers, who will be contesting his second full season in the Pro Series, the Official Entry Level Race Series of CART. Breuers, having built this program around his own race career, was instrumental in bringing the Pro Series into an alliance with Sunoco. The three-parties worked together to demonstrate that sound business-to-business opportunities exist at all levels of motor sports.
"Working with both Marc Breuers and the Barber Dodge Pro Series represents a tremendous value for the Sunoco organization," said Paul Schwab, Manager, Performance Products. He continued, "The Barber Dodge Pro Series has proven to be an integral part of racer development over the past decade. Our involvement allows us to be a part of this winning formula."
Similar views are held by the management of the Barber Dodge Pro Series.
"Sunoco has a rich history in North American motor sports, having been heavily involved in racing throughout the years," said Jeremy Dale, Managing Director for the Barber Dodge Pro Series. Dale continued, "They've been associated with many of the great names in road racing, and I'm proud to have the Barber Dodge Pro Series now as one of them. Beyond the history, Sunoco's involvement in our race series enhances our reputation as a credible partner platform, as we strive to cultivate a business to business environment that creates benefits for ourselves and our drivers."
