Asaro signs with Alan Docking Racing

Asaro targets British F3 Championship with ADR.
Following Villeneuve's footsteps to F1

February 17, 2003 (Toronto, Ontario): Canadian race driver Billy Asaro will return to the British Formula Three Championship this year with 2002 title-winning team Alan Docking Racing (ADR). Last year, competing in the British Formula Three Scholarship Class, Asaro masterfully took three wins, four seconds and three thirds along with two pole positions and three fastest laps, continuing the winning ways that have seen him shine in karts, Formula Ford and US Formula 2000.

The 21-year-old Unionville, Ontario, resident is delighted to come back to the UK-based series which has served as a launch pad for many Formula One careers, including those of current stars Rubens Barichello, David Coulthard and Jenson Button. Racing in England, where many Formula One teams are based, has put Asaro close to the people he needs to impress and he has already attracted some weighty attention. He recently met with two Formula One teams who expressed interest in his potential.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for me," said Asaro. "I'm looking forward to working with ADR, they seem like a close knit group and Alan Docking appears to be a straight forward person. The team has a winning chemistry which will inspire me to perform at my maximum."

ADR's team principal, Alan Docking, was able to watch Asaro perform fist hand last season and is more than happy to have the Canadian in his stable this year.

"We're very excited to have Billy on the team," said Docking. "The last Canadian we ran was Jacques Villeneuve and that worked out well. With a season of experience with the Formula Three cars and tracks, Billy is ready to deliver the goods."

The British Formula Three Championship is a 24-race series making stops at such superb facilities as Silverstone, Brands Hatch, Rockingham and a possible event at Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium.

Asaro leaves for England this week and begins a pre-season testing programme on February 25 as he prepares for the season opener at Donington Park on April 5.
