Clarke leads way in Castle Combe practice

Dan Clarke led the way in practice for the British Formula 3 International series at Castle Combe circuit. The British driver set a time of 59.266 seconds around the 1.85 mile circuit to comfortably set the fastest time. Clarke was quickly on the pace and broke the one minute barrier within just ten laps and, despite being the fastest driver anyway, put in a final push to improve by nearly two tenths of a second.

Steven Kane, of Promatecme UK, put in a strong performance to finish the session with the second fastest time. He quickly got his times down to a competitive level and put in a two-lap sprint during his final run to move up to second place. Carlin Motorsport driver Alvaro Parente, currently second in the championship, spent most of the session getting familiar with the circuit without pushing too hard. He only dipped below one minute a few times in the session but the last of those was fast enough to take third.

Championship leader Marco Asmer finished tenth after setting his fastest time near the very start of the session. He was losing time in the first half the circuit but repeatedly pushed hard over the second half of the lap to build up a respectable time in this Hitech Racing Dallara Mugen-Honda. Danny Watts marked his return to the championship with a busy session and ultimately the fifth fastest lap in the Alan Docking Racing Dallara Mugen-Honda.

The Championship Class was headed by Jonathan Kennard who put in a strong performance in his Alan Docking Racing Dallara Mugen-Honda to finish narrowly ahead of Charlie Hollings and Salvador Duran.
