METCALFE & HINES THIRD ON GRID FOR DONINGTON FINALE

Jeremy Metcalfe is well placed to try and claim the runner-up spot in the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship this weekend after team-mate Luke Hines set the third fastest time during qualifying for the final round at Donington Park National Circuit.

Running well during the 30-minute session this afternoon, Saturday, 11th October, the No.16 Ferrari 430 GT3 car produced a best lap of 1m 09.788 seconds (100.96mph) with Hines at the wheel to secure third on the grid for Sunday's two-hour endurance race.

Heading into this weekend's 2008 season finale the battle for the runner-up placing in the driver standings is incredibly tight. Jeremy and Luke, along with fellow CRS driver Michael Cullen, lead the way on 52 points with the remainder of the CRS attack, Michael Meadows, James Sutton and Cullen's partner Paddy Shovlin, five points adrift.

Jeremy, who hails from Fleet in Hampshire but currently resides in the East Midlands having started a BSc (Hons) degree in Property Investment and Finance at Nottingham Trent University, was very happy with today's performance and is sure he and Hines will be able to add to their respective podium tallies tomorrow afternoon during round 14.

"We're obviously very pleased to be right at the front in qualifying and third is definitely a good starting point for tomorrow's race", said the 20-year-old, "I'm really looking forward to the race, the car felt good today and I think we have a great chance to do well."

Round 14 will be the second two-hour event of the season, the first having come eight weeks ago during the previous British GT race meeting at Silverstone where Jeremy secured the fifth podium of his maiden campaign in sportscars.

The final race of the 2008 Avon Tyres British GT Championship will get underway at 13.15 tomorrow, Sunday, 12th October. Before then, a 10 minute pre-race warm-up session will take place at 09.35.
