Reddy ends sixth in BF3 Autumn Trophy at Snetterton

The Autumn Trophy event offers additional mileage for former British F3 drivers, while also providing a test bed for upcoming racers.

Reddy, who competed with Fortec in the main British F3 championship, switched to Double R Racing for the winter series.

He showed strong pace throughout Friday, finishing third in the first two practice sessions. In final practice, he was only 0.088s off the pace of chart-topper Dan Ticktum.

The Indian continued his strong form in qualifying, lining himself fourth for Race 1. Carlin’s Enaam Ahmed took pole, ahead of Ticktum and Douglas Motorsports’ Joey Mawson.

Fighting fifth in Race 2

The starting order for Race 2 was determined on the basis of the fastest times set in the opening race, placing Reddy seventh on the grid.

Reddy gained one position off the line and moved up to fifth after Fortec’s Ben Hingley was handed a 10-second penalty for a jump start.

With Marcus Armstrong far off in the distance, the Chennai-born driver settled for fifth place, which turned out to be his best result of the weekend.

At the sharp end of the pack, Ticktum claimed victory from pole position, with Ahmed passing Mawson for second to extend his points lead.

Difficult end in Race 3

Due to heavy fog on track on Sunday morning, second qualifying was abandoned, with grid for Race 3 determined on the basis of the championship order.

However, Reddy was forced to start from the pitlane, severely compromising his chances in a race that was shortened to just eight laps due to track conditions.

The Indian could finish ninth, bringing a sour end to his Autumn Trophy campaign, which was marred by engine issues. He ended up sixth overall in the championship, with 51 points.

Up front, pole-sitter Ahmed and Ticktum banged wheels into Agostini, the latter spinning out of the race in the incident.

Ahmed, meanwhile, went on to win the race from Mawson and his Douglas teammate Jamie Caroline. With the final race cancelled, the Carlin driver was crowned champion with 99 points.

Mawson finished second overall, while Fortec’s O'Keeffe pipped Ticktum for third place in the standings.
